Not the happiest news

Went to the doctor's today.

My CT scan was fine and everything (which means my problems are depression related as per usual), but there was some bad news. It was about Dad. Apparently he's prematurely aged and he's becoming very.... slow. It's not Alzheimer's thank Christ, but I've been told I need to take good care of his health as he is unable to do so properly. It's hard because he's very isolated and his entire world revolves around myself and, up until last year, my mother (despite their seperation). So basically he's dealing with a bunch of terrible psychological issues dating back to his childhood that are interfering with things like his memory. We are now at the point where he is unable to learn new things, even after many repetitions.

I'm very paranoid I'm going to wake up and find him dead. I don't know how I'll cope when the day comes when I can officially be called an orphan >_>

Oh Fri, that's awful news to get at the age of 23. All I can say is just read up on it a bit and just try to take each day as it comes and help your dad to the extent he needs it, but remember to take time out for yourself. And I know you want to move out sometime, but this doesn't mean you can't. It might just narrow the distance away you might be able to live, and means you would probably visit a few days a week(?) to help with day to day things! And really, that couldn't be that bad, could it? You need to stay in contact with family!

My mom's deathly terrified of getting Alzheimer's... Tell you the truth, I'm also afraid of it, especially since my parents are now 65 and 67.

So yeah... Don't dwell on it, just live your life as best as you can dude <3 Don't stress and all will be well.

Yeah, my dad's 65 too. It's shit when your parents start getting older, isn't it? Why did they have to have us so late in life @_@ LOLOL OLD PEOPLE SEX

I had no idea your parents were as old as mine XD I think you're the first person I've met with that sort of an age gap. It's weird, isn't it, when your parents oculd be your friends' grandparents?

Oh God yes, it's very freaking weird @_@ Heh, I remember when it was a bragging point in primary school... "MY PARENTS ARE OLDER THAN YOUR'S, THAT MAKES ME SUPERIOR!" Now it's just depressing @_@

it sucks because there's not much you can do. my dad was told to stop smoking because he'll get emphysema, and he just went outside and had a smoke. and he's still smoking!
