What I wouldn't give to have a decent quality version of this to pump out my car's speakers.

I'm feeling pretty fuckin' emo right now (holy shit stop the presses!) and am debating about whether I should drink myself into a coma, play my keyboard for a while, or go for a walk in a park or something. Dad's buggering off to Adelaide tomorrow for a week so that'll be a bit of a relief.

I'm not too good at the moment. I'm not sure how to get good. HERP DERP MAYBE IF I BLOGZ MOAR LULZ.

FUCK YEAH, preview of the studio version of X's latest song has been leaked! (And by latest I mean like 4 months old.)

Damn, sounds so much better than at the live. Still not one of their greatest hits, and for a band that used to shred a song to pieces with complicated guitar riffs this one relies entirely on cheap power chords (hide... ;_;). But oh how I do love it. The harmonising of the vocals is great and reminds me of "Art of Life", and the super emotional minor chords... oh my beloved X, that alone was enough to win me over in 2004 <3 Plus it's one of those sappy songs that's good to sob along to when you're feeling down. Yoshiki wouldn't be Yoshiki if he didn't include blood, jealousy and death in every song :D

‘Cause you are beautiful
Your glow was beautiful, yesterday
I still hide, at the scene of memories
Oh I still hold my rosary beneath the veil of life
Will the tears wipe your bloodied face from love... you can break away, escape
Flow like the stars of the sky
Walk in the ocean, the art of life
Makes me wanna die together in heaven

First and foremost- X-JAPAN HAS A NEW SONG OUT.

[click to download]

Personally I have no great love for it. It has none of the personality all of their other songs do, no trademark epic minor chords and intense guitar riffs with Yoshiki going nuts in the background. It sounds as though it could have been written by anyone. Actually, it reminds me of Toshi's solo work. Ugh.

Worst of all, the lyrics are saying stuff like "You are beautiful, your soul is beautiful". NO. THIS IS NOT MY X. MY X SINGS ABOUT BLOOD, SUICIDE AND ANGST. Even Celebration finishes with the line "What are we supposed to celebrate anyway? This is the end of the world!". DO NOT WANT. I can't believe I waited 2 years for this.

Sorry, had to get that bit of fangirling out of the way.

Thanks to everyone who came (lol) last night, I hope it resulted in drunken glee for you <3 I shall upload some piccies later on. Right now I'm just horribly tired and a little woozy... bed sounds good...

INTERNETS.

SWEET, BEAUTIFUL, FLUID-ENCRUSTED INTERNETS.

Oh God, four days is too long to go without a connection. I actually had to READ. You know... BOOKS. Not the ones I'm supposed to read for Uni of course, but strange slabs of paper nonetheless. At least now my computer can actually burn DVDs and doesn't take 3 minutes to boot up.

Random drabbles:

*It tickles me that my love for fake news programmes has coincided perfectly with my journalism degree. It's fun to hear your tutors bitch about 24 hour news channels and then come home and hear your favourite pseudo-pundits also tearing them to pieces. For once my hobbies are coming in useful.

*Speaking of which, after reading a newspaper properly in the first time since forever, it kills my boner to see how few pages are dedicated to world news. What the fuck, I don't care about the Broome quarterly dirt review.

*Calendars only work if you use them. WHAT DO YOU MEAN I HAVE THREE ASSIGNMENTS DUE IN A WEEK?!

*Heath asked to leave X-Japan but the management wouldn't allow it. The downward spiral continues.

*The first part of my journalism assignment only got a 5.5, but I consider the smiley face to be worth at least two extra points.

Listening to: A quaint little Christian rock band known as X-JAPAN.

Watching: Outtakes from The Colbert Report.

Number of days since I've worn a bra: 3.

You better believe I'm loving these holidays. Having successfully returned to my rotating sleep patterns (I woke up 6 hours ago :D), I intened to spend this sweet week blissfully ignorant of the trials and tribulations awaiting me in the second half of the semester. Learning is fun, assignments are not :(

NOSTALGIA BOMB- remember when Channel 10 was TV 0?

So I was looking at some of the stuff I've churned out over the years on the art front and came across this piece of fail I did back in '06 when I was all I'M GUN BE A SUPA ARTEEST KAWAII DESU NE!!! Despite the blindingly obvious flaws in that picture, I can tell by looking at it that I was in a certain state of mind that I am no longer able to achieve. You know- when the creative juices are flowing and you can painstakingly yet lovingly spend hours on your work without realising it. I miss being able to do that.

Eh.

I ran away from Uni yesterday because I was so freakin' anxious and it felt like I was being stabbed in the gut. That's been happening a lot latley. Alcohol? Why yes, I think I will. Actually my self-medicating has consisted of locking myself in my room with X-Japan, The Daily Show and life-giving tea. As a result, I have used up 40% of my monthly download quota in eight days.

Meh. I present you with this delightful picture I took at the UQ Womyn's Society's annual soccer match.

Oh dear.

It would appear X-Japan is whoring themselves out again. As if X condoms weren't enough back in the 90s, there now exists fun things such as...

"[...] relatively cheap food items (including rose and mint flavoured breath mints) through household items like the already mentioned mugs and glasses through boxes of tissue paper, towels and toilet mats and cover to sweat suits and other wear, on the higher priced end to Walkman and mp3 player that, like a special red and white two bottle world tour commemorative wine set, have to be specially ordered." (piccies!)

There's also hairspray, curried doughnuts and music boxes that play some of their ballads like Forever Love (DO WANT).

Alas, despite this new announcement and with the Hello Kitty collaboration still fresh in one's memory, their concert schedule is non-existant and they've released all of two songs since 2007.

Edit: YOU CAN BUY SOME OF THIS CRAZY SHIT ONLINE! Oh God I wish I could afford to import that music box TT_________TT

As much as I love Toshi - and yes, that silly moment where he looked at me and smiled still makes me giggle like a schoolgirl - he wrecked people's lives that night. I never used to understand all the hate directed at him, but now I fully believe that if he hadn't walked away from the band, hide would still be alive. Nowadays, when he blogs time and time again about his "Eco-rock" solo career and hardly ever mentionw X's world tour, it feels like salt in the wounds.

After watching clips from X's Hong Kong concert I am now desperate for them to announce the dates of the US concerts. HOT HIDE COSPLAYER OR HOTTEST HIDE COSPLAYER? Hopefully I'll get to the one in NYC if it agrees with my holidays and I can get a decent job in time. (The one I signed up for at Uni doesn't have many hours ;_;)

Oh, good news! I managed to shirk my Bachelor of Arts and weasle into the Bachelor of Journalism so I don't have to do any stupid crap like writing a 3000 word essay on the history of reporting, rather I am taught how to actually go out and report. Freaking w00t- theory can suck my gargantuan pulsating manmeat.

And this all would have happened a lot sooner if it wern't for one little conversation that happened almost 10 years ago. (Good Christ, how can I possibly be that old?)

Cut for ranting )

Let's assume that you're a famous rockstar with far too much time on your hands. Let's also assume that you're an ego maniac who has started selling hideously expensive jewelry based on your name, basically consisting of a bunch of silver trinkets with your first initial plastered on them. Being Japanese, you're obviously going to be missing a few brain cells here and there. You're in your 40's - though the botox suggests otherwise - and things are going to go over your head from time to time. Little things. What does all this lead up to?

When you see it... )

Good job, Yoshiki. I can't wait for the German concerts.

HAPPY 2009, NIGGAZ! Only 3 more years 'til the Apocalypse so let's all have a drink.

I just got off a horrifically turbulent plane ride home. The pages of the book I was reading are marred with fingernail marks in testimony to how much I just love and adore flying -_-; (It probably wasn't a good idea to be reading something with the title "Stiff- The Curious Lives of Cadavers".)

I'll have a more detailed report later, but for now let's have a think about 2009.

Resolutions are entirely pointless and feel oh so forced, but I do hope to get more of my writing published this year and on a grander scale. Also, and perhaps more importantly than such trivial things as education, finaces and responsibility, I intened to go to at least one of X-JAPAN's concerts (which hopefully won't be cancelled for the 52869368th time). Hopefully I'll get to either one of the Japanese or American ones (preferably the later due solely to the exchange rate), but it all depends on what coincides with holidays. The footage of the NYE concert is being deleted and re-uploaded to JewTube faster than I can type, but holyyyyyyy shit Toshi's voice sounds so much better than it did in March! It's so clear and he doesn't sound like he has a sore throat for once! Do want <3

And now, as I have Uni tomorrow - happy fuckin' new year >_> - I shall depart. Enjoy your hangovers, mein lieben!
