Highlights of GenCon:

*The kickass group of DC cosplayers, particularly Wonder Woman who also goes to UQ. Also the guy in naught but a pair of short shorts who had painted himself white as part of a rather effective Despair (from Sandman) cosplay.

*Seeing ass-length petticoats selling for $70

*Running into [info]minna and [livejournal.com profile] pect in her epic AP outfit

*"How do you win an RPG?" (I don't think Matt will ever let me live that one down...)

*Running into people we knew from BAS and seeing how old and bitter they'd become

*Going home at around 4pm to sleep and only just waking up an hour ago

Matt and I got invited to an afterparty (which is really the only reason anyone attends these things, right?), but oh God were we exhausted. Maybe I'm getting too old for this stuff. Then again, if I'd been any more energetic I probably would have succumbed to the lure of the karaoke room, and nobody needs that.

And now to edit the fuck out of the audio grabs I recorded.

WTF?

Today I logged onto Fagbook and had a friend's request from this guy whose display pic is of him standing in the Upper House down in Canberra. Turns out his somehow involved with the Liberal party. The message that accompanied his friends request? "Hey, I listen to your show on JACRadio and I'm a bit of a fan..." ... Um... 'kay... I have a group for that, why are you adding my personal profile where I post about boobies on a regular basis >_> *sigh*

1000th POST GET!

It has been almost 5 years exactly since I started this blog in September '04. Apparently it takes half a decade of emo angst and gay sex for me to get to quadruple figures. I should get a Grammy or something.

Aw yeah.

I'M A REPORTER AGAIN AND IT FEELS SO DAMN GOOD!

Not only does Gencon want to give me a press pass, they want to give me free tickets to give away on my radio show (in a way that doesn't challenge my ethics for once).

I'm betting I can get special access to the guests they're flying over from the US as well. The PR guy seemed really eager to pimp the con to Uni students for obvious reasons. Time to contact some of the geek clubs around the place and pimp my show.

Ah, it's good to be back.

So last night Matt and I went to a life drawing session (as opposed to a life drawing class- this was just a bunch of people doodling as opposed to being taught). The chick was wearing this weird old lady wig which was hard to sketch. By the end of the two hours I was pretty spent, but it was something which I'd sorely needed for a long time. After distancing myself from an activity that at one stage defined me, it was sort of like coming home. Once again embracing something so familiar. I tried not to care about how imperfect the result was. Matt had been smart enough to crosshatch his epic sketches instead of smudge (kinda), though somehow we both ended up covered in graphite.

Ugh, I should have a completed radio show for tomorrow and yet I have not even started. Shoe shopping with Kylie and laughing at people with Matt is so much more fun ;_;

Finished recording my latest show for JAC Radio. In it I have managed to include:
*Stewart/Colbert references
*THE INTERNET IS A SERIES OF TUBES techno remix
*"Drink or Die" by hide
*All Your Base reference
*Old men using Twitter
*Comments about Europe being fascist

Of course all this came at the expense of my assignments. I have no idea how I'm going to get this shit done >_> Oh wells. I'm sure the two people who tune in will feel completely alienated be too stoned to care.
