Good lord I miss that freak. (Both of them.)

Alive, exhausted, and in possession of an ungodly amount of imported Japanese tea.

Next to catching up with my dearly beloveds (HUGS PLZ!), one of the things I'm most looking forward to about my upcoming southern descent is this- Demeter Fragrances. Sold by in a little shop in Fitzroy with a ridiculous mark-up, these converted me to wearing perfume on a daily basis. They smell just like their description, with names such as Chai Tea, Wet Garden and Reece's Peanut Butter Cups. I used to own the Cotton Candy one but sadly forgot to restock on my last visit :( Unfortunately you can't get it here and you can't exactly sample perfumes digitally until Professor Farnsworth brings us Smell-O-Vision, so I can only obtain this sweet essence once in a blue moon. I'll have to restrain myself from spending half my Centrelink bludger money on expanding my collection.

Anyway. Anyone free to do something on Sunday the 7th Monday the 8th? Byron, I believe you mentioned deliciously overpriced weeaboo sustenence at Isakaya(?)

So last night Matt and I went to a life drawing session (as opposed to a life drawing class- this was just a bunch of people doodling as opposed to being taught). The chick was wearing this weird old lady wig which was hard to sketch. By the end of the two hours I was pretty spent, but it was something which I'd sorely needed for a long time. After distancing myself from an activity that at one stage defined me, it was sort of like coming home. Once again embracing something so familiar. I tried not to care about how imperfect the result was. Matt had been smart enough to crosshatch his epic sketches instead of smudge (kinda), though somehow we both ended up covered in graphite.

Ugh, I should have a completed radio show for tomorrow and yet I have not even started. Shoe shopping with Kylie and laughing at people with Matt is so much more fun ;_;

Last night I had a nightmare that I got a 6 for my Creative Writing assignment. This from someone with a GPA of 5.25 -_-;

Actually, said delusions were probably a result of inhaling too much sugar with [livejournal.com profile] vrrrrt last night. In a desperate bid to escape the West End hippies residing in the local vegetarian restaurant, we chillaxed for a while at Three Monkeys and chewed on delicious cake while black cats crossed our paths. It was freaking freezing, but Catlin had a kickass coat that looked like something a VK star would wear (I hope that's a compliment >_>). I on the other hand was stuck with a $20 jacket from Stafford City. Oh how I wants a nice fuffy coat that doesn't cost 60, 000 yen D:

For those of you unfamiliar with the term, "newspapers" are those things you wrap your fish and chips in and use for house training your pet/child. I was reading an article in such a publication the other day and found an article on UQ's journalism school in which one of the professors stated that most students were still aspiring to work as print journalists when they graduated. I was a little taken back. Personally I accepted the death of newspapers even before we entered the new millennium when my father got the sack after working for The Courier Mail for as many years as I've been alive. This coupled with my general geekdom means that I've generally been grooming myself for online reporting, something aforementioned professor said that very few people even considered. This is both a blessing and a curse- for one it means that for once my deviating from the norm may be beneficial, however as we all know most online journos are unpaid freelancers. We're at a time in history where editors have realised "WE SHOULD BE CHARGING FOR ONLINE CONTENT, O SHI-" but no-one really knows how to go about it. As a man said on Four Corners last week, whoever figures out the formula to making online news profitable enough to keep journalists in a job will be a wealthy person indeed.

Until then, prospective journos have three options:
1. Move to country towns like Kingaroy and Roma where people rely on papers because the Internet tubes don't stretch that far;
ii. Do what most others have done and trade in their integrity for the $$$ that comes with being a P. R. spin doctor;
c. C is for Centrelink.

As someone whose qualifications lie in art and writing, I guess I know what my future car is going to look like.

On a note that's more related than you can imagine, last night's party at Catlin's was indeed a welcome study break. It was also a chance to see just how many women in petticoats I could cram into my Echo. We so could've fit more in.

So Melbourne was essentially a 7 day drinking fest.

The Boxing Day sales were packed with people - mostly yellow - lining up for ages outside places like Gucci and Armani. I was content with a half price cardican from Dangerfield. New Year's Eve itself consisted of a steampunk/neo-Victorian ball out at Carlton. I would have rather been watching X's countdown, but this was the next best thing- plus there were naked chicks and everybody likes that.

Special luffs go out to [livejournal.com profile] baorin_lee and [livejournal.com profile] rockeandroll for robbing me of my sobriety, [livejournal.com profile] kashiichan for making sure we won't be let into Heaven on Judgement Day, [livejournal.com profile] swiftylily for having the most comfortable boobs on Earth, [livejournal.com profile] sefieslj and [livejournal.com profile] rukubites for being generally awesome and also having exceedingly comfy mammories, and everyone who took the time to come out to Knox on Saturday. Also props to Jarrod for putting me up, though given that he has trouble discerning a microwave from a computer I suppose that's irrelevant.

PICS!

French delights! <3

[livejournal.com profile] rockeandroll marks her territory.

The best thing about Melbourne is the large gay community that keeps us safe by patrolling the parks at night.

Sure [livejournal.com profile] sefieslj is hot but is just getting vulgar.

I... wait, what?
