Damn you summer

ACK! This heat is relentless!
Well, all the leases have been signed and I'm in charge of getting everyone's money to the realtor. The bond for the place is $1900 between four people =.= Went out to dinner with Kit, Shi and Sorrell later. I'm sorry kids, but Dumpling House fails >.<
Saturday was MoC, and I now realise that I should join the two year working group. What they want to do is so close to a Supanova/Animania environment it makes me sick. "Let's make the con more family friendly so we can appeal to a wider audience and get more attendees!" Manifest isn't about appealing to a broad audience. It's about appealing to a target audience. And I would write a long rant on this if I wasn't so lazy.
Afterwards was Tai's Family Guy sleepover. Unfortunatly he only had seasons 1-3 *was so desperate for season 4 and the movie >.<*, but was all good. I didn't exactly sleep, and ended up catching a 7am train out of there knowing that if I crashed at Tai's, I wouldn't wake up again 'til late afternoon/evening. Unfortunatly both this and the fact that my room has to be spotless by *checks calendar* today so people can start inspecting it, meant that I had to skip Mayou-chan's meetup ;_;
Still haven't gotten anyone to replace us in this sharehouse. Bloody hell. I think things might've been a tad tense between myself and Nichole as well. Gack. Just... think of zee pool >.

Date: 2006-01-23 04:16 am (UTC)If anything, it's not unexpected, since there's a couple of camps out there. There's one that would rather have no change at all, to the point of denying people at the door. There's another that believes that Anime should be part of the mainstream discussion (And we're a long long long way from ever reaching that point, like Japan let's say.) and consequently make conventions a household topic. Basically, there's plenty of people there who want to either do a no change, or change so rapidly, it'll just alientate everyone.
There's a balance, even in change. Change is necessary (not good obviously, but it's a fact of life) but it doesn't mean too much change is always good either. If nothing else, you have to think about how you plan to get from where you are to the changed state.
Of course, refusing to move at all isn't going to impress anyone either.
There you go, rant to go. Or something.
Although I really shouldn't say this, I think you're beginning to understand why I'm telling myself to stay out of conventions a while, if not permamently.
