Anime wears thin

I've pretty much fallen out of the anime fandom.
Over the past two years I've only finished three series (Trinity Blood, Loveless and Sukisyo), and I've not been in a fandom since around February of last year.
I think the main reason for this eventual decent is simply that I don't get to watch much anime nowadays. Back when I was at my "peak", I attended a club and thus got exposed to all sorts of new stuff. But clubs aren't really my thing anymore, so I just don't get to indulge myself.
Also, my lack of internets make it impossible to hit ye olde BitTorrent. Plus I'm a bit slack when it comes to leeching off people; "I'll have to get that series off you sometime."
Then there's my general fussiness. I'm insanley picky about everything, from food to choosing a mate to other peoples' shitty drawings. Poor ol' Megan and Byorn were trying to help me pick a manga in Minotaur but I kept turning my nose up at everything presented to me: "Oh God, school based crap." "I hate fantasy!" "Mecha? What do you take me for, a peasent?!" "I'm not even going to consider that until the girls in it learn to close their legs."
I mentioned a while ago what I like in anime, and people came up with some good answers but again, I suck at leaching.
So I guess I'm turning my back on anime in general. This makes conventions even more futile. Well, that and the fact that I've recently had to come to terms about being an introvert.
Ugh.

Date: 2006-11-29 09:46 pm (UTC)I can't give any help relating to clubs, because I'm now the Vice President of our local Anime Society, so there's no escaping for me even if I wanted to. XD
But I've found that I've gone through huge stints of not watching any anime or reading much manga; just nothing sparked my interest and it was all harem anime that I'd seen before.
I think the thing that always keeps me into it is because I have interests in so many other areas of Japanese culture.
i.e. Earlier this year I got my first dollfie, and I love her to bits. I'm not as hard-core as many dollfie fans, but I'm a fan none-the-less. I have also recently rediscovered my supreme love for Sailor Moon when Billi and I watched the entire Live Action series. That turned me onto many other live action series and Japanese movies. (Such as the Nana LA movie, Kamikaze Girls; which was damn amazing and I can't wait to see Deathnote.)
I am also really into elegant gothic lolita fashion now; I'm building my first outfit and am dressing lolita every day of AI-Con 2007.
(I have also sparked an interest in bento culture, and have been reading up so much about it.) I'm so Wapanese. ;w; *cries*
Having said all that though, I do loose interest in things quite easily; but then I usually go full circle and re-awaken my interest further down the track.
It's only natural to get sick of stuff, it's human nature.
You shoudn't feel bad about getting sick of something, but I do hope you wait it out though and see what happens.
Because I wanna see you at AI-Con 2007. *hug*

Date: 2006-12-03 07:11 pm (UTC)I totally agree with what you're saying about Japanese culture (your avatar not withstanding XD). It's kinda hard not to be swept away with pretty shiney goth-loli trends - some of the gothy stores are starting to stock it, w00t!- and general outrageous appeal.
I didn't know you had a dollfie!!! So much dollfie yaoi/yuri among owners from what I've seen... goes to show that all those times one undressed their Barbie and put her in compromising positions with various Kens and/or plushies never completley goes away ^_~
Gah, there are far too many cliches in anime/manga. And yes, harem anime does drill its way into your brain after a while. (Thanks so much for setting that trend, Tenchi Muyo >.>) Even the beloved yaoi is becoming tiresome- apparently love is strictly for schoolboys only O.o
Hai, AI-Con 2007 is on the cards! Your outfits are always so awesome and original, I can't wait to see what your loli outfit is going to look like! *bounces excitedly*
