I am going to a wonderful (and expensive) Japanese resteraunt for my birthday here in Brissie, with authentic decor and traditional meals, run by a person called... Michiko O'Brien.

I'd better not find potatoes in my sake.

I am working on extremely iffy memories here, so I am quite probably wrong, but I believe the Koreans make soju, an alcoholic beverage, out of potatoes. I've never had it, though. Apparently it is just as alcoholic as sake.

Which restaurant is it, BTW?

Little Tokyo in Turbot street. It's expensive, but it's the best bloody Japanese resteraunt I've ever been to @_@
