Anime to watch

Anyways, seeing as just about everyone of you fools reading this are geeks, I am in need of an anime to watch. Something relativlety new that has a good plot you can really sink your teeth into, but meets the following criteria:
*NOT school-based, kthxdie
*No exhauberant amounts of fanservice. I almost fell out of the anime fandom altogether a few years back after all that jiggling gave me motion sickness...
*No annoying females.
*Not set in some medival time period... present day and realism is good.
