IT'S ALIVE!

Ah, my beloved lappy. After weeks of inactivity it's now alive and breathing thanks to a $148 cord. Ack. I took the buggered cord into a shop yesterday (the cables had come away from the adaptor), and despite the fact that I told the guy behind the counter that other techno savvies had said it was more or less unfixable and that he wouldn't be able to get into it without a hacksaw, he insisted he could repair it. I leave it in his 'capable' hands, and not two hours later who do I get a call from saying "Sorry, couldn't fix it"? GRRRR. That bastard had SO better not be charging me a service fee.

Anyways. The flight back to Melbourne was the most turbulant I'd ever been on, and although paranoid at first, I somehow managed to bring myself to ignore it. I lugged my suitcases to Nichole's place (around 50kg of stuff this time), got off atthe wrong station, and had her drive me out to her place some time after 10pm. We had intended to go house hunting online, but meh.

The next day I caught up with [livejournal.com profile] misty_yuy for the first time since whichever convention, and after I made the poor dear help me haul my luggage back to my place, we trotted down to the Anime Cafe at Glenferrie. Got to tackle Jin Yan after not seeing him since forever! Squee! Unfortunatly the air-con had buggered the LCD screen, so no fansubs for us. [livejournal.com profile] baorin_lee and his sis also rocked up for a while.

The next day was Saturday, as well as New Year's Eve. The place to be that night was at [livejournal.com profile] sefieslj and [livejournal.com profile] rukubites. Upon arrival I was assaulted with belated Christmas presents! NYAHAHAHA! I recieved some very sexy manga from [livejournal.com profile] kitsunesakurano and Jarrod, which I was very pleased to have the day before last when I was at home with no internet. "Beyond My Touch" was somewhat less angsty than expected, but still a good read with three standalone stories contained within its pages. "Dost Thou Know?" was... a tad confusing. I couldn't really grasp the plot outside of "this guy sorta likes this guy and so does this guy", and it didn't help that the kmain characters looked exactly the same as their brothers... but again, my favourite kind of yaoi is generally the kind that doesn't solely rely on romance for a plot, so it was good ^^ I also got a bishielicious wallscroll of Aya from [livejournal.com profile] soreru, who decided it would be amusing to hide a rubber cockroach in said present resulting in a terrified shriek from me and a whole lot of laughs from everyone standing nearby >.> (And just to confirm, I wasn't crying because I was scared- I was crying 'cos I was laughing! I wouldn't have been smiling on the tram thinking about it yesterday if I'd have been upset by it :D)

Saw lotsa people there who I can't be bothered adding LJ tags to. Tina-chan, Nic-kun, Ruu, RJ... Brad and Clyde left early to take in some Guitar Wold, and Hannah, B-kun and Rocke got back just ten minutes before midnight after going to see Rocky Horror. Nice timing!

Sefie and Ruku put on a real great shindig, cooking up food for the masses (mmm, veggie burgers), letting us play backyard cricket (which with my lack of hand-eye coordination I was too ashamed to participate in at first, but managed to play a couple of rounds) and letting us crash for the night ^^

Before midnight, some of us discussed what our highlight of 2005 had been. I picked one of my nicer memories, which was beeing greeted by a horde of Manifestees at the airport when I first came down ^^ The new yearwas welcomed with lots of hugs and tackle glomps, as well as plastic cups of Jarrod's absolutley foul tasting wine. I called Mum and wished her "Happy New Year!" only to have her reply "It's still 11pm here O.o" Damn you, daylight savings -.- Got a nice slew of well wishes in SMS form and a call from Gonzi, so all was shiney.

After most had departed, the remainder sat down and watched Rocky Horror on DVD. There's another cherry popped for me. It was good, but I dun think I could sit through it twice ^^; Over the course of the day I polished off most of the Midori I'd gotten for Christmas, as well as whatever people felt like offering me. Come morning I departed early with RJ, Rocke and Kurochan, the latter of which stayed over that night. Nothing major, just good to have some girly talk and wander around the city a bit ^^

Well, I suppose that's probably the most exciting things written about. I have to get used to typing on this laptop again... this feels so uncomfortable >.
