Alright. So about anime.au. [livejournal.com profile] eviltom and I hopped onto a V-line train and watched the brown scenery roll by for several hours. Most of the signage around the country areas seems to be advertising either machinery or interstate tourism. O.o We transfered onto a coach at Albury, stopped over in Gundagai (*sings* There's a track winding back to an old-fashioned shack..."), and rolled into Canberra around 8pm. Caught up with Kenny and Mad Danny for a while before turning in for the night. Canberra is such a freaking hole.

Got up the next morning and moved our stuff into another room, seeing as how they'd booked us in a crappy little shoebox for the Saturday. Stupid hotel. We wandered over to ANU, following random people, dropped off some Manifest postcards at the rego table, and then... I headed straight for the vendors. Not that there were many of those. Madman, Yorokonde and some anime/sci-fi stall was all they had, aside from OzTAKU and a few spots for anime clubs and artists. It's the tiniest con I've ever been to! And I wish there'd been more vendors, seeing as they a convention.

My cosplay was atrocious. It was the old hide cosplay from Minifest, and it was still in tatters. In the end I was just wandering around in the jacket and black trousers seeing as the original trousers didn't have enough safety pins for them to sit right. Instead I wove them into a makeshift noose (not a proper one, but it still worked; my emo days have paid off!) and pretended to hang myself on stage. Tactless I know, but meh. Obviously I didn't win anything, but Beatrix did; her outfit was so cool!

Caught up with Setsuna! He's always good to talk to, especially consdiering he knows everything about the Australian con scene. I got to catch up with him several times over the weekend, so I was happy. He was even kind enough to buy me some extra Green Tea Pocky on the Sunday! Squee! *tackles him* I also managed to catch up with [livejournal.com profile] athira which was awsome, seeing we didn't meet properly at Animania. It was awsome talking Gackt with her! *sends huggles*

The auction was so slow moving. The guy who had been given the job took forever and spent a lot of time beating around the bush. Being a consumer whore I usually love auctions, but I walked out of this one. The con really needs to have more events, but it is only in its second year and is stuck in Canberra, so what can you do.

We watched some random screenings before heading to the AMV comp and announcing of random prizes. Neither Tom or I won anything (he entered AMV and fan-fic comp, I just shoved some stuff in the art comp), but we got to watch some decent AMV's. I was Mark's proxy to see if he had won anything at the comp, and I was listening so intently when they were calling outt he prizes that I don't know how I managed to mishear his name as coming first! Thankfully I was able to pick up his prize the next day.

[livejournal.com profile] orpheneritus's yaoi panel was pretty good. It was good to get some explanation on shota seeing as pre-pubescant boys is a no-go area for me!

Saturday night Tom-kun and I headed back to our shoe box and just hung out. It had been quite a long day. The next day we had to move our stuff back into the other room again. It was really quite a nice room! Gah, I want my own flat already >_< We rocked up to the con late on Sunday because it took so long for the maids to ready our room for us. I wandered around Canberra barefoot in search of some milk for our cereal.

Canberra is such a freaking hole. I can't believe people actually live there. There seems to be a lot of people on bikes for some reason. It was funny how even at peak hour (8am of a Monday) there's still no-one around! Though there was this really cool merry-go-round I wanted to go on T_T

Anyway, back to day 2 of the con. We rocked up sometime in the afternoon and managed to catch the trivia. (I'd managed to get Tom and I lost and led us around in a circle when the venue was just up the road from our hostel >_<) Our group consisted of myself, Tom-kun, [livejournal.com profile] athira and [livejournal.com profile] cooked_sashimi and the questions were exceedingly difficult! I think we ended up coming fourth or something. At one point I got bored and wrote a yaoi fan-fic in the answer section. It was purely for entertainment value seeing the pairing was Gendo and Fyuutsuki ^^;

THEY HAD GREEN TEA POCKY!!! I'VE BEEN WANTING TO TRY THAT FOR YEARS!!! AND IT TASTES LIKE GOD!!! Seriously, Green Tea Pocky is the best snack in the Universe. Even better than Strawberry Pocky! *worships*

Sunday night we had a mini-party with Kenny, Danny and [livejournal.com profile] orpheneritus and her friend. We had pizza, drunk from large Vodka Cruisers, and of course watched yaoi and the occasional hentai. All good.

The next day Tom-kun and I got up uber early to catch our 7:50am bus. The hotel reckons they never got the $85 deposit I sent them, so I don't know what's going to happen with that. Tom-kun managed to sort them out for the time being. The ride back was actually much more comfortable than the ride there seeing as we wern't anxious to get anywhere. We could just sit back and relax. On the train we barracaded off six seats so we could stratch out and not have to share. Damn those bags of ours were heavy! I had a nasty headache when I got back, but we pretty much went straight home.

I bought a hide photobook (got it for $50 'cos the cover was monged!), a Puchuu beanie, and my pride and joy... a beautiful X-Japan "Art of Life" CD with a hardcover booklet for $20! I was so stoked!

So yes. I had a good time. Except the post-con blues are different this time. Usually I'm sad because I have to say goodbye to all my con buddies and the event I've waited for for so long is over. This time it's because I miss waking up with a warm prescence next to me. It was great spending time with Tom-kun, and it's brought us closer together. (If I was one of those annoying teenagers that quotes songs in their blogs, I'd be posting shit like "I'm falling even more in love with you".) So yeah. I really want my own flat so we don't have to wait for anime cons to have some quality time together ^^;

Today [livejournal.com profile] 5hi_tenshi and I went out to Robot Sushi with [livejournal.com profile] baorin_lee for Rory's birthday. We drank sake and watched some of Lupin, but didn't hang around too long. Had some rather unnerving pizza on the way back... it was dripping grease >____< Squick!!!
