Wow. Yesterday was freaking awsome.

After spending copious amount of time having our hair and make-up worked on by Dani-chan, she, myself, Sorrell. Aaron and Jaq drove into Federation Square donning our beautiful yukatas. (A large portion of the day involved us fixing eachother's outfits at random intervals ^^;)

Oh yeah, I almost forgot about the gay Hitler.

Dani was putting some of her chocolates into my bag to carry, and this Austrian tourist put his hand out for some. We're like "Err... WTF?" He asked for some chocolates, which neither of us wanted to give, so I told him he couldn't have any because he wasn't a geek. Unfortunatly (though rather hillariously) he misheard 'geek' as 'gay', and said that he was very gay. Jaq ended up giving him one of her chocolates, and he was ranting on about how he came from Austria. Wanting him to piss off, I told him that my Dad loved Hitler (which he does... he never shuts up about him being a 'mate' of his), at whichi he proclaimed that he was Hitler. Uh... he left soon after that ^^;

So yes, after running back to the car to retrieve the Manifest sign, we rejoined the group and I got to share Yan Yan [livejournal.com profile] eviltom ^_^ (I would've given my left eyeball to see him jump from the bushes and kancho Byron... why does nobody tape these things >_<) Actually some guys doing promotional stuff for a Japanese company that took people around Melbourne took a photo of us all! (Almost killed my still-buggered knee X_x) Awww, [livejournal.com profile] nekopan and [livejournal.com profile] sora_ishida looked so adorable in their matching yukatas! Glad I got some pics of them together ^.^

After bumming around for a while (I was glad to catch up with some peeps who I haven't seen since I arrived like [livejournal.com profile] sefieslj and Erica!), we walked down to the gardens where the fest was being held. I think people were beeping at us and the Manifest sign O.o (I guess we could've passed as protesters... "More volunteers, less bootlegs!") I wonder where that sign ended up after we got there. All I know is taht it was in the back of Sorrell's car on the way home. When we got down there I was overwhelmed by the little stalls, the smell of takoyaki (which I hate, but c'mon, it's a JAPANESE festival), and all the people in their yukatas! They had these awsome yo-yo's there which were small balloons with a little bit of water in them attached to a rubber string. I really wanted one, but was turned away because I was not a child! Some of the other peeps in the group managed to get some though; we had fun with Hannah's ^^

We watched some of the kendo and katana demonstrations, before Katie-chan and I decided to brave the loooooong line and get some takoyaki. Hey, other people in the group had returned with some, so the line had to be moving pretty fast right?

... my GOD that line was slow. Tom was kind enough to wait with us for the 1+ hour we were standing there. I'm kinda peeved that we spent so much time there only to get told they only had sushi left, but it's not like things were boring! You can take that in a good way or a bad way. ... I prooved my idiocy on several occasions, but shall only mention the incident where I screamed out "OMG, HIDEEEEE!" to a guy wearing a hide shirt, then demanded a picture like an insane fangirl. I later found out that guy was Andy, the guitarist all the girls fawn over from a local J-rock group. ... -____-;;;

Well, all things aside, the yukata comp was fun. I hate little kids, but the junior section was actually pretty cute. I want an asian kid so I can dress them up like that! I think the announcer dude was a bit harsh on them at times. Like one kid he asked where she was from, and she didn't really know, so he asked if she lived in the park. Other stuff too. It just pissed me off a bit. Hannah was the first to go up, and unfortunatly most of my pics of our group on stage are blurry as Hell! When I got up the guy asked me what I liked, and I told him bishounen and shounen-ai. He didn't have a clue what I was talking about, just like when Jaq told him the frogs on her yukata owned. We were cacking ourselves, but the rest of the audience had no clue what she meant! A girl with a really nicley coordinated yukata won. The prize was a pair of shoes that I doubt many western girls could fit in ^^;

After that we got to relax a bit. Nargun was good enough to get us sushi seeing the yukata comp started and we were still in line. We got a few group pics, reminding me that yes my camera really does suck (pics will be posted soon... this new computer really hates my digi cam), and Tom, Katie and I sat away from the rest of the group (expecting them to follow, but they didn't -_-;) and had some din-din. Tom-kun had to leave early. I'm hoping I can see him this week, but this is also the week he his Uni starts, so I guess we'll have to see. *sigh* I was really happy to see him again, but I also did something really stupid. It didn't seem like much at the time, but looking back I could just thwack myself upside the head.

Things sort of died down from there. I got to spend some time with Katie-chan which was good ^_^ She's an awsome friend, and we always have the most interesting/hot yaoi sex-filled convos ^^ After that we seperated, and I walked back to Fed square with the remaining group. SOmeone dared Dani to dunk her head in a water trough, but she refused. I felt that it was only right that I carry out the dare. ... I didn't know horses actually drunk out of that thing! I thought it was some historical thing left over from the 1800's or something! So THAT'S why the water tasted so bad >_>

After getting some Macca's (myself not included- as you know, I boycott Mac's ^^), laughing when poor Aaron managed to laugh french fries through his nose, and smelling strange fumes from the back of Sorrell's car, we headed back home. AT one point teh Eva theme was blasting through the car's speakers ^_^ 'Tis the Otaku Anthem. After we dropped Aaron and Dani off, we arrived back at Jaq's place and did a bit of stargazing with her telescope. Couldn't see much, and the moon just looked like a big white dot, but it was still interesting. And I have a great deal of Yan Yan left over O.o

So yeah. All things aside, it was a fun day. (I keep tripping on those stairs at Fed square >_>) At some points in the day I found myself smiling for no reason at all. This is the first time I've been in a big group of friends and haven't had to pretend to be happy or force a smile. I'm not sure if it's permanent, but I really am enjoying myself. And through all of it, I can't help but question myself. To be honest, I have no idea who I am. I don't know if I'm happy and stupid, depressed and brooding, or something completley different. I don't know if this happiness is only temporary, and if I'm going to have a moodswing at any second. It's stupid, I know. But sometimes things just get so confusing!
