Obligatory doll post

BAH. All this talk of dollfies! I swear, half the people on my friends list (and by half I mean a fifth or less) seem to be obsessed with those $300 pocket-drainers. It seems to be the latest fad.

... the worst part is, I like them too ^^; I mean, come on, they're the closest you're going to get to those beautiful anime bishounen. And ever since someone posted a picture of a doll they'd done up as hide I've been somewhat enticed.

I did some research quite a while bit, and whilst this lovely speciman is absolutley droolworthy, his somewhat more economical relative is also quite appealing. What do you think, sefieslj?

Bah. I'd be tempted to go for one if there was no such thing as AI-Con. Seriously, six months ago I thought I'd have a nice long break after Wai-Con (when I still thought I was going >.>) where I could get my monies together and... I dunno. Not have to scrimp and save every dollar I get to the point where when friends ask if they can borrow two dollars for a drink or something I have to refuse. I'm moving out AGAIN soon, and the rent's gonna be cheaper... you'd think that would mean more spending money. No. No it doesn't. Centrelink will even it out >.<

Don't get me wrong. AI-Con is for le win, but after having to squeeze every penny I got ever since I moved out, it gets insanely... insane. Sometimes I have little splurges on myself like a spanky new manga or dinner out, but it really does suck being unemployed.

But yes. The entire point of this post? My want for a dollfie has been rekindled, but the conwhore in me is far too busy channeling every spare dollar towards the never-ending cycle of Australian anime conventions. ME FAIL TT_______TT

How are they “never ending” There are only 6 real anime conventions in Australia, and most of them are in the second half of the year. Just go get a job somewhere, work your ass off for the first 6 months of the year and you’ll have more then enough to go to all the conventions.

If you think Australia has a "never ending cycle of anime conventions", then just go spend a month in the US. They have more conventions over there in 2 weeks then we have all year.

Of course they're a never ending cycle! They're like the seasons! And I've been on job search for going on a year and still with no luck. Not even Coles wanna hire me >.>

To be totally honest? I think you should spend your money on cons instead of dolls. Dolls won't make Fri happy - spammage, glomps and mad, wacky con hijinks make Fri even happier.

Which is not to say that Lahoo and Yu are bad choices (they're both too frowny for my taste), but you also have to know that there is a EIGHT WEEK waiting period (at least) after you've paid for them before they actually arrive.

Well, if you go con hopping, you ARE following the crowd, literally in some cases. :P

I wonder if I can con Fri into doing my job for the next 12 months. A fair few people have suggested that I somehow get someone to do their surveilance work for me... Should I? :P

Well, the problem is... I don't think there's anyone out there that'd actually count. I remember talking it through with Jon, and we both ended up coming to the conclusion that there ISN'T anyone out there that could do the job.

So I have to con someone else into it, and see if experience can teach two different people the same thing.

For most part, brainpower isn't really what's needed, since sometimes it actually helps if you at least appear vacant in the critical thinking department, since they'll often explain things to you from their prespective, which is very important in understanding how they're approaching it.

It's more the ability to remember and recall. Being able to understand things as they happen is nice, but most of it is post event.

Put aside some money each week, and when you have say, $500 or so depending on the model. You decide then if you want one.

Bah, monies. I would, but my finances are shit. As in, most of the time a few days before payday I have a maximum of $6 in my account. But when I get a job, that's probably the way to go about saving for one. <3
