The Billy that Puffs
Gah. I don't like being scolded.
Today was the day we trekked out to Belgrave for the Puffing Billy Adventure! It was cold... it was drizzling... it was overcast all day, and there wasn't a time where I couldn't see my breath. Oh well, atmosphere I suppose ^_^ However, the weather was not what irked me. It was the fact taht we'd booked for twenty people other than Jaq, Dani, Sorrell and myself, yet only five or six others rocked up. Eh... all I'll say on the matter is that I certainly hope Jaq doesn't do anything too silly!
So, with our little group together, we boarded the train (had the whole carriage to ourselves thanks to Jaq's grandfather). It was exceedingly wet and cold, but people were allowed to sit on the windowsills and hang their arms/legs out the window, so I decided to do just that. I had to kick off my shoes so they didn't fall overboard, and let me tell you, I was wishing like hell I'd had time to put on some socks before I left >.< Twenty minutes later it felt as though I'd been walking on ice, and had to retreat back in the carriage ^^; Needless to say, there were some great views along the way.
It took us... I'm not sure, maybe about an hour or so to get to Emerald Park. Kyle and Sorrell had both brought along sausages... that's, what, around 50 sausages between 10-12 people? I brought along some marshmallows for toasting, which was kind of difficult on an electric cooktop. Eventually I just emptied the bag onto he plate and let them sizzle. They were still good ^_^ Seeing as we were all freezing our asses off, Sorrell kept pouring water on the "barbeque", and the steam that came from it warmed out frozen fingers right up.
There were numerous Skittle fights seeing as Matt brought a whole swag of them. There was a nearby lake with some pedal-powered boats, and though Dani and I had been looking quite foward to that, we were pretty sure they'd be closed considering the weather. There was also a neat waterslide taht Sorrell said he frequented as a child, but it was dry and full of dead leaves (not to mention the grate at the end of it. I actually had a rather nasty confrontation with someone at one point, but I don't particuarly want to dwell on that.
Some time later, after cleaning up and throwing bread at ducks, we headed back to Belgrave. Dani started doing concept art for the Flash animation I intend to go ahead with. She's got some really good ideas, and I reckon if I can refine them a bit so they fit Flash, it'd be uber-funky. Plus she's more creative tham me anyway, so ideas=good! At one point during the ride I opened the door on our carriage, just to see if it was possible to do so while the thing was in motion. Unfortunatly, Dani decided to do the same thing and stuck her head out... the train driver must have seen her, 'cause he gave her a piece of his mind when we stopped at the next station ^^;;; Scary!
I've just hopped out of the shower and, after shiverring all day, have finally managed to warm up. *hides under blankets* Soooooooo sleeeeepy...
