I too get a little bit obsessed with my fandoms, which have varied over the years. But I've recently found that my main pairings from each fandom I'm currently jumping in-and-out of are light/dark haired. Harry/Draco is absorbing all my fiction reading atm, but I otherwise check out some Iruka/Kakashi or Naruto/Sasuke if I'm in a Wapanese mood. Cloud/Sephiroth is about the only pair I can think of that don't have contrasting hair...how annoying.

I really wish FF.net would have an option to sort fics by amount of reviews, like I swear they used to. I only found a good fic today that had been updated in the past year that was a continuing story, but otherwise it's trawling through other people's fave lists to find anything good. I've now set the bar that the stories have to be 'completed' for me to read, since all of them stopped being updated in 2008 and it's so frustrating when you get to the last update, and it's left you hanging and they haven't updated in two years.

I completely agree about LJ. A couple of comms I follow have been exceedingly active and providing some of the best fic-writing and judging on the internet. I'll have to follow more of them to stop me going mad at the poor quality on FF.net.

The next ten years will be interesting. The growing popularity of 'nerd' culture may see a growth in these expressions of fan culture, but we'll always have the 'My Immortals' to keep us entertained.
