NEWSFLASH: Group that gets paid to be controversial is controversial

CHASER GETS CANNED for two weeks

Fuck the media for making a bigger deal out of this than it should have. Fuck the people who complain about this shit who are mostly 30/40-something mums and dads who think of themselves as moral authorities for everyone. Fuck the ABC for only doing this as a PR move to satisfy the aforementioned groups.

Seriously, what the fucking fuck. The heading "Mum breaks down over Chaser stunt" makes me gag. Why do so many people fail to comprehend the meaning of "If you don't like it, don't watch it"?

Just because you're not offended by something means that other people are not going to be. There is a moral line in the sand where when crossed is met with vocal criticism.

I have no doubt that I would've laughed my ass off, because I enjoy lots of black and blue humour. I do however see the necessity for restraint, especially in more public forms of performance.

Society is a bell curve of moral standards and while we may lie on the outer edges of it, there is a large majority in the middle who show which lines shouldn't be crossed.

Really though, nobody would have cared if it weren't for the way the media went to town on this shit. I have seen far more reprehensible things on TV than this that haven't garnered a response. Now everybody's hopping on the bandwagon and the same people that have praised them in the past for being "edgy" and "controversial" are the ones getting pissy.

The media -love- controversy, that's how they make their money each day. Why are we even getting worked up what the media thinks is important?

There's 'controversial' and then there is 'making fun of dying children' =]

So you think people would still been out for blood and the show would still be suspended if it weren't being pimped out by the media? I think most would've just chalked it up to them being dicks.

Well, even if the media hadn't done a story on it, it probably still would've gotten suspended. The government wants to do the right thing by those who vote it in. Once again, back to the majority of moral standing.

The media just make it less likely that the government would ignore any complaints otherwise that'll be a bigger controversy altogether.

I really doubt that it would've been cancelled if it weren't for the hype. For God's sake, the same episode had a sketch about Dungeon Dad called The Inbred Bunch among things. The "moral majority" probably would have been apathetic, and many of the people complaining wouldn't even have heard about it.

Um... I forget what we're debating now... >_>

Probably something of no real consequence... like dying children.

Ah yes, like the starving African kids they were poking fun at the week before.
