You sound like you have a region free dvd player and watch a few international dvds yourself. Either that or you go through the alternative method of ripping and reburning all your international dvds on a region free setting. Hacking the DVD drive of your computer also works but there can be severe hardware and firmware issues and some of the hacking software isn't too reliable (a friend of mine has already ruined his laptop drive screwing with region settings.)

Maybe I should have added to my post that the extras on DVDs released in Australia are shit-tastic so I doubt an American buyer could really be bothered getting a region free player for DVDs that are available where they are with a hell of a lot more features.
